28th November:- Today, as a joint
initiative of Yuvsatta, Independent Schools Association of Chandigarh and Peace
Club of KB DAV Sr. Sec. Public School, Sector 7B, Chandigarh, Supported by
Northern Command of Indian Army, an Army truck was flagged-off by Debendra
Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests & Director, Environment,
Chandigarh Administration from KBDAV-7 premises. Prominent amongst those who
were present on the occasion included Mahavir Singh, Member
Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Harjinder Kaur,Chairperson,
Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights-CCPCR, Prof. Devi
Sirohi, Former Chairperson, CCPCR, Saroj Mittal, Dy. Director,
Education Department, Bikram Singh Rana, State Liaison Officer, State
Cell NSS, Madhu Bahl, Regional Director, DAV Colleges Managing
Committee, Social Innovator Smt. Indira Dasgupta, Chairperson, People
Institute of Development and Training (PIDT), New Delhi, Sandeep Joshi the
famous cartoonist and Pramod Sharma, Founder coordinator of Yuvsatta.
Giving information of the initiative Pramod Sharma shared
that to promote spirit of national unity, communal harmony and patriotism,
now from past five years, they’re collecting new sweaters & jackets from
tricity Schools of Chandigarh, Panchkula and SAS Nagar (Mohali) for School
students in Kashmir and also New Year Greeting Cards and ‘Thank You’ card for brave
soldiers of Indian Army posted in Kashmir valley. And with support of the
Indian Army the same is transported and later get distributed in the Kashmir
valley.
The programme started with Harjinder Kaur addressing a gathering
of students, teachers and heads of 24 prominent Schools of tricity of
Chandigarh, Panchkula and SAS Nagar whose students contributed this gifts
promoting warmth of friendship, respect of others and above all spirit of
patriotism and 1 India which everybody aspires. Appreciating this unique
initiative she said that this child to child presents of woolens and friendship
cards are seeds of love sowing concern for fellow citizens and at the same
time, such initiatives prepares a new generation with creative minds and caring
hearts.
Debedra Dalai remarked that this gesture of young children
expressing their gratitude to soldiers by sending them ‘THANK YOU CARDS’
is really remarkable effort. He also shared that the Indian Armed Forces,
consisting of the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, the Indian Navy and the
Indian Coast Guard are India’s shield and sword, which keep our interests safe,
our enemies at bay and the people of our country secure and free. They are
respected and adored for their valor and sense of duty by the entire country.
Many of us already know about their triumphs and stellar contributions to
civilian life. And such initiatives of bringing armed forces and student’s
closer will certainly promote further patriotism and respected for motherland
among young minds.
