December:- The Department of Social Welfare Women & Child Development
celebrated International Day for persons with Disabilities at Government
Rehabilitation Institute of Intellectual Disability today.
Secretary
Social Welfare, B L Sharma distributed the Unique Disability Identity Cards to
the persons with disabilities. Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice
and Empowerment, Department of persons with Disabilities, New Delhi has
launched a project called Unique disability Identity Card for Disabled (UDID).
Unique
disability Identity Card for Disabled (UDID) project is expected to create a
National Database for Persons with Disabilities. 17 persons were distributed
Unique disability Identity Cards and the persons with disabilities present
there were informed about the utility of the cards and it was also informed
that the process of registration for Unique is disability Identity Card for
Disabled (UDID) is being carried out in Government Rehabilitation Institute for
Intellectual Disabilities, Sector 31, Chandigarh, Government Medical College
& Hospital, Sector 32, Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector 16,
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Sector 12,
Chandigarh in addition to this services of uploading of data is also being
operational in Asha Kiran, Sector 46, Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, Prayaas, Sector 38
and Senior Citizens Home, Sector 43 along with all the E Samparks of
Chandigarh.
