Feb, 2019:- The 38th National
Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NWCPT) organized by the
Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh began today. Prof. Bikash Medhi
welcomed the delegates and informed that in this workshop nearly 90 delegates
from all over India are participating. Prof. Bikash Medhi further informed that
the delegates include faculty members and personnel’s from the pharmaceutical
industry as well as postgraduate students. Eminent scientists from academic
institutions and pharmaceutical industries have been invited from all over the
country to share their experiences.
Prof. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER,
Chandigarh inaugurated the workshop and addressed about the importance of
clinical pharmacology in health care setting ranging from drug development,
prescribing and policy making. He was felicitated for his inspiring presence,
by Dean and Sub-Dean of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
The organizing secretary Prof. Bikash
Medhi, has highlighted all the modules of the workshop to the delegates. It is
a one-week workshop comprising of six modules. Then, Dr B. Dinesh from NIN,
Hyderabad and Dr Shankar Narayan from Hyderabad enlighted about the importance
of preclinical data in developing clinical protocol and about the early phase
clinical trials in humans.
Dr Ekta Kapoor from department of
science and technology, New Delhi, took a lively session about quality auditing
in Good laboratory practice set ups. The afternoon sessions got the delegates
interested with scientific writing skills and e-classes on Python. The day
ended on a high note with a didactic discussion about the various processes
involved in getting financial assistance for research projects from
governmental agencies.
