July:– Chandigarh College of Architecture is hosting a two day capacity
building workshop on NBA accreditation, jointly with All India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE), North Western Region(NWR),
Chandigarh. The National Board of Accreditation is one of the two
major bodies responsible for accreditation of higher education institutions
in India, the other being
NAAC. NBA accredits technical programmes which include engineering
& technology, architecture, applied arts and crafts, computer applications,
management, pharmacy, hospitality and tourism management.
The workshop was
inaugurated by Sachin Rana, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Special
Secretary cum Director-Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration.
Dr.KCB Rao and Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Singh, experts of NBA conducted the workshop
and enlightened the audience about the significance, role and responsibilities
of the accreditation process which is now mandatory for technical institutions.
Over the coming years NBA will be playing critical role in awarding degrees
said the experts and stressed the need on outcome based education. 160
teachers from various AICTE approved technical institutions across Punjab,
Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh had participated in the workshop.
The National Board
of Accreditation was established by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
in 1994 and operated as an autonomous body since 2010. NBA has introduced new
processes, parameters and criteria for accreditation, promoting international
quality standards for technical education in India. This workshop is a
precursor to the NBA application process being taken up in the college with the
support of the Chandigarh Administration.
