Chandigarh 19th Aug:- The Chandigarh NHM Employees Union
(CNEU) today held a full fledged strike by stopping all the health services of
health department, chandigarh. We informed the NHM department, UT & other
higher officials of Chandigarh administration six weeks prior to the strike but
department didn’t pay any heeds to our genuine demands Hence, we are ultimately
compelled by the health department to go on strike.
According
to the Mahavir Singh Rawat, Media Controller of the CNEU, that today all the
NHM staff participated in this protest which includes Medical officer, lady
Medical officers, Staff nurse’s, ANMs, LHVs Lab. Tech, Pharmacist’s, DEO,
counsellors, helpers and other staff posted at GMSH 16, Civil hospital 22,45,
Manimajra and other allied services. He shared further that this strike
hampered the health facilities and few are totally locked without any staff. This
is very shameful for health department that they are neither taking care of
their Staff as well as patients. He added that if department won’t come up with
any solution we will further extend this protest for next two days.
Amit
Kumar, General Secretary, CNEU said that on Tuesday there is ante-natal check
up done at dispensaries and on Wednesday vaccination of children takes place. Both
the activities will be affected by the negligence of heath department. We have
taken this extreme step after carrying out so many protests but all in vain, so
we are sorry to take this step but its need of our livelihood. We will
intensify the protest and continue it till the fulfillment of genuine demands
and if requires we will lead our protest to jantar Mantar- Delhi.
