Chandigarh 17th Aug:- The
Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, V.P. Singh,
inaugurated the 'Indian Culture: Unity
in Diversity' National Seminar organized by Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati
Society at Raj Bhawan to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary year of
Mahatma Gandhi. The National Seminar organized in the leadership of
Ambassador of Peace Acharya Dr. Lokesh.
In his address, the Governor
said that it is a matter of great pleasure that Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti Society is
organizing 24 conferences in different provinces of the country. Through these
conferences, the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi will be transmitted to the masses.
This is not only a historic step, but will play an important role in Nation
Building. In this series, V P Singh heartly congratulated Acharya Dr. Lokesh,
the founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, and all the workers for organizing the
seminar in the historic city of Chandigarh, Punjab.
The Governor also said Gandhi's
vision of Independent India was a nation free of exploitation of the poor by
the rich, of the masses by the classes, of villages by towns and of the weaker
by the stronger. His idea of Swaraj was freedom from hunger, unemployment, fear
and hatred.
The Governor also said that
many great men in our country, Lord Mahavira, Lord Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi etc.,
laid great emphasis on non-violence. These three era men understood the
importance of non-violence, followed its path based on experiences and
motivated others also to follow the path of Non-violence. Lord Mahavira and
Buddha were contemporaries. Mahatma Gandhi put forward principles of Lord
Mahavira and Buddha. Mahatma Gandhi said that do not try to commit violence not
only by deeds but also with mind and words. He undertook Satyagraha and Anshan
many times to stop the violence. On the strength of non-violence, he liberated
slave India from the British.
On this occasion, Governor VP Singh
unveiled Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati's magazine 'Aahwaan'.
Acharya Dr. Lokesh, the founder of
Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, while addressing the National Seminar said that Unity in
Diversity is the fundamental characteristic of Indian Culture. Religious Harmony
is its main Mantra, preserving and promoting the Cultural Diversity will be a
true tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He said that in the current phase where we are
going through, Culture Diversity is most needed.
Acharya Lokesh said that Mahatma
Gandhi was very much influenced by Jainism, he had enhanced the principle of
Jainism non-violence. Further, he said that ideological pollution is more
dangerous than environmental pollution; we should respect other's existence and
ideas like self existence and ideas. Moreover, he said that we should follow
our religion honestly, but also respect other religions; this is the path
Mahatma Gandhi taught us.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor
of Punjab University Prof. Rajkumar, Paramjit Singh Chandok, Chairman of
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Delhi), Brahmachari Dr. Dinesh, Yoga Guru &
Director of Brahmshri Yoga Institute, expressed their views in the
seminar.
Prem Gupta welcomed all the guests
by welcome speech and the program was compared by Ms. Tarakeswari
Mishra.
