Chandigarh 13th Feb,
2020:- The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT, Chandigarh HE V.P. Singh Badnore today released 'CHANDIGARH ROAD SAFETY MANUAL' prepared by
Harman Singh Sidhu,
President, Arrive Safe for the benefit of existing road users. The
Chandigarh Road Safety manual aims to sensitize road users to adopt safe
driving practices. The Manual comprehensively and insightfully discusses all
challenges to driving whether relating to road conditions, weather, time of the
day, visibility, nature of traffic, etc. The Governor desired that this manual
should be supplied to the drivers who appear for learner/renewal license at
least 15 days in advance.
Further, the Governor also
released a series of three books "Towards Road Safety' as part of the
curriculum for School children. These road safety books (in Hindi and English)
have been developed by Chandigarh Traffic Police in association with the State
Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT), UT, Chandigarh for primary
(3-5 class), middle (6-8 class) and senior levels (9-10 class) for school
children.
The Governor also desired
that these books should be introduced as part of the curriculum for school
children from the next academic session i.e. 2020-2021.
Senior Officers of
Chandigarh Administration including Manoj Parida, Adviser to Administrator, Arun
Kumar Gupta, Home Secretary, Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, Mandip Singh
Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Sanjay Baniwal, DGP, Shashank Anand and SSP Traffic
were also present on the occasion.
