Chandigarh,
06th Mar, 2020:- Even as the world is reeling under
the effects of the novel corona virus (COVID-19), the cyber ecosystem across
the globe too is facing an upheaval. Endless new types of computer viruses and
attacks are leading to significant losses in the world economy and business
operations overall.
Countries like Taiwan are stepping
up their efforts to bolster general cyber security and aid other countries
against potentially crippling cyber-attacks. The growing use of internet
technology is a major reason for cyber-attacks to steal potentially valuable
data such as company secrets and personal data. As per Crowd Strike's 2018
global survey that investigated 1,300 companies, 66% of firms said they
experienced attacks with an average financial loss of over USD$1.1 million. In
recent times, therefore, cyber security in IoT has become one of the key
factors for stable business operations. Also, cyber defense has acquired added
importance because this the time when IoT devices worldwide are expected to
exceed USD$45.4 billion by 2023. While 50% of these are home automation and
security devices, there are also internet of vehicles, smart manufacturing,
asset tracking, IoT in fuel gauges, IoT in water and electricity meters, and
IoT in consumer electronics among others.
Taiwan is now at the frontline to
co-operate with countries like India to deal with the obtrusive menace that is
affecting businesses worldwide. Taiwan External Trade Development Council will
be planning and participating in key international exhibitions to showcase its
information and communication products internationally. In India too, Taiwan
Excellence Pavilions will be set up at the Convergence ICT Expo to be held at
New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan in July. Taiwan’s leading cyber security brands like
ZYXEL, VIVOTEK and Edgecore who are the winners of this year’s Taiwan
Excellence Award will be a part of the event.
Mark
Wu, Executive Director of TAITRA’s Strategic Marketing Department said that at a time when IoT devices are growing worldwide,
cyber defense is assuming increasing importance. With home automation, internet
of vehicles, smart manufacturing, IoT in all fields, it is important for
businesses, companies and individuals to be aware of the need for protection
against cyber-attacks. Taiwan is offering solutions to deal with this menace.
According to statistics from the
Industrial Technology Research Institute, Taiwan's cyber security output value
in 2019 increased by 12.3% to NTD$49.34 billion compared with the same period
in 2018. The two key factors that caused this year’s increase in output value
are the drastic rise in the export of cyber security network hardware, as well
as domestic demand for cyber security services. The export value for products
in network security such as firewalls, UTM and network security hardware platforms,
backend etc. and mobile device protection such as fingerprint identification
chips, TPM modules etc., and new IoT security (gateways) is approximately
NTD$24.8 billion. In addition, the output value for cyber security system
services (cyber security inspection, operation management) is expected to
exceed NTD$21 billion in 2021. This demonstrates that global cyber security
awareness is on the rise, where demands lead to higher output value in
professional services.
To name a few Taiwan’s leading
cybersecurity brands are ZYXEL, VIVOTEK and Edgecore, all are this year’s
winners of the Taiwan Excellence Award.

hacker attacks/threats.
lVIVOTEK
launches the world’s
leading end to end Cybersecurity Management Solution. This solution provides a
robust shield that starts from the front-end network camera (IT9389-HT), to
network video recorder (ND9541P), and to the back-end video management software
(VAST 2), and allows users to respond faster to threats and minimize cyber
risks in IP surveillance networks.
lEdgecore
Networks, a leading provider of traditional and open network solutions for
enterprises, data centers, and telecommunication service providers, is pleased
to introduce its latest L2+/Lite L3 10G Ethernet Aggregation switch — the ECS5520-18X, a
high-performance 10GbE managed switch with two 40GbE uplink ports and enhanced
cyber security features, designed for carrier/enterprise aggregation or small
data center top-of-rack.
lAdvantech
has launched a Mini UTM (Unified Threat Management) SRP (Solution Ready
Package) to help its customers counter the continuous growth in network
security threats. This mini UTM also simplifies universal customer premise
equipment installations, providing not only general UTM functionalities such as
firewall, antivirus, and content filtering, but also supports router and switch
configurations.
